Many non-native English speakers struggle with speaking and writing, often producing awkward or overly complicated sentences. As a technical translator, I have learned that mastering clear and accurate writing—beyond the literal translation taught in academic settings—can be a breakthrough for effective communication.

Effective communication is the skill of delivering maximum meaning with minimal words. After years of translating and writing research papers, patents, and other technical documents, I have developed practical strategies to make communication more precise and impactful.

At TEAJ, we empower engineers, scientists, researchers, students, and professionals to develop strong written and verbal communication skills. My goal is to help non-native English speakers build confidence and proficiency in the language, expanding their opportunities in the global arena.

The rise of AI-powered machine translation has further increased the need to refine AI-generated English texts. TEAJ also provides guidelines to help professionals maximize these tools for clearer, more accurate communication.

My goal is for TEAJ to be a valuable platform that provides people with the resources and guidance they need to communicate effectively in English.

Technical Writing
— an Art of Being Considerate

Technical writing is an art of being considerate. I have always kept that in mind. Technical writing is a product of human expertise.

A technical writer keeps the reader in mind. To make their writing easy to read, easy to use, and easy to understand, they do everything they can. Then the effort crystallizes into expressions that are correct, clear, and concise.

Translators are bridges. They receive the thoughts of the writer and pass them on to the reader.

If the original writer is not good at writing, the translators must extend a helping hand. They must read between the lines, capture the thoughts, and correctly pass them on to the reader in a better manner.

Technical writers and translators deal with subject matter that is technical in nature, yet they do it for the sake of interpersonal communication.

I, as a TEAJ director, would like to have that kind of human mastery widely recognized and learned. I have been blessed with opportunities and have gained knowledge on technical writing through many years of practice as a translator and instructor. Building on that knowledge, I will do my utmost to further promote the spread of human-friendly technical English. I also wish to explore new possibilities, such as using AI to support the skills of artisans.

That said, I just want to emphasize one thing – technical English is fun. I find great value in sharing this joy with many people.
